Al Frankin May Be The Next Paul Wellstone

No one can replace Paul Wellstone, the late great liberal Senator
from Minnosota.

And indeed, his seat has remained vacant since his unexpected death
in a plane crash several years ago.

But Al Frankin is running for Senator Wellstone's seat.

And he may win.

I like Al. He's not a Paul Wellstone, though. I'd agree with John Nichols' assessment: Al's definitely not a progressive, he's a 'centrist liberal.' But he'd be a huge improvement over Norm Coleman.

One of my main reservations about Al, besides the fact that he was pro-war in 2002-2003, is that he's called Bill Clinton "the greatest President of the 20th century" and he also seems to think highly of Hillary.

OTHERWISE... How can you not like Al? :-)
